Standouts: 4th annual Sun Bash Miami

MIAMI, FLORIDA – The 4th annual Sun Bash Miami went down on Saturday on the campus of Westminster Christian School. There were five high quality matchups and a lot of strong performances along the way.
Here is a look at the top performers on the day.
2023 6-6 G Koree Cotton – Southridge
Playing with endless confidence, VMI (Virginia Military Institute) commit Koree Cotton proved why he is ready to flourish in college next year. The 6-foot-6 guard had the top-scoring performance on the day with 32 points as he officially tied former Doral forward Justin Johnson as the second-all-time leading scorer in Sun Bash Miami history. Cotton got to the rack, and fought through contact while he used every inch of his length to score on lay-ins and jumpers.
—2024 5-foot-11 Rey Daniels was red hot in the opening with 19 of his 26 points. His jumper was on and alongside this seasoned squad, he will continue to get his opportunities.
2024 6-5 F Christian Reid – Mater Lakes
A true bonafide strong forward, Christian Reid was all over the glass on both ends of the floor. The 2024 6-foot-5 athlete got inside the paint and finished through contact endlessly on his way to a 24-point outing in an 8-point win over Southridge in front of a loud and big crowd. Reid holds a Southern Mississippi and will almost certainly land more offers soon due to his two-way ability.
—2023 6-foot-3 guard Michael Bradley was aggressive all game long and it paid off for the Bears. The Barry University commit went for 22 points in the victory. 2024 6-foot-3 Ian Pascall (11 points) mixed it up as a driving guard and keen-eyed shooter.
2023 5-10 G Gabe Hernandez – Doral
The success continues for Gabe Hernandez. The 2023 5-foot-10 guard dropped 25 points in a 3-point loss to Belen Jesuit. He was pressured throughout the game by the opposing defense and still won his battles with his athletic finishing ability, solid arcing jumper and skilled leap-rebounding ability. Colleges need to get him on their radars right now.
—2024 6-foot-8 forward Oscar Hernandez (11 points) grinded on the boards and finished inside down the stretch with purpose.
2023 5-11 G Danny Fernandez – Westminster Christian
For Westminster Christian, the Warriors scraped and scraped its way back in the final game of the night against a fast paced and in-sync St. Brendan group. Danny Fernandez ended with 19 points and really shined as a gritty seasoned guard. His 3-point shot is quick and his ability to get to the rim is rock solid.
—2025 6-foot-4 guard Dwight Whipple (13 points) is an athletic rebounder and good finisher. 2025 6-foot guard Cooper Whitby (12 points) and 2023 6-foot-3 guard Gunner McCormick (10 points) each got going with jumpers and pull-ups.
2023 5-11 G Javier Rosell – Belen Jesuit
Belen Jesuit moves the ball with tons of effort and energy and Javier Rosell was at the forefront as the main ballhandler. The 2023 5-foot-11 guard can shoot it, drive and guide his team with smart passing. Rosell finished with 15 points and is a legitimate player at the next level.
—2023 6-foot-1 guard Ryan Cuellar (11 points) really shot the ball well and hit his open looks.
2023 6-2 F Kendrick Cela – Pace
In a back-and-forth battle with Coral Gables, Kendrick Cela was active from the jump for Pace. The 2023 6-foot-2 athlete handled the rock a ton in this game and got inside and finished around the rim. He led the Spartans with 15 points.
2023 6-4 G Alex Alvarez – St. Brendan
A well-put-together team, St. Brendan earned a lot of energy from its side. 2023 6-foot-4 guard Alex Alvarez was the best piece for the Sabres with 12 points. He’s a long body who has a good feel for the game as a shooter and overall leader.
2024 6-3 G Gabriel Chang – Coral Gables
Coral Gables lost a close tilt with a fast-paced Pace group. 2024 6-foot-3 guard Gabriel Chang was in full control of this offensive pace and intensity with 12 points. With a solid frame, he shot well and did plenty defensively for the Cavaliers.
—2023 6-foot guard Jose Suazo (12 points) had a nice outing, especially with his ability to get past defenders with ease.
2025 6-0 G Jacob Escobar-Marquez – Gulliver Prep
Just a sophomore, 2025 6-foot guard Jacob Escobar-Marquez shined in this game as a true point man. He made some high-IQ passes, knocked down some tough jumpers and really set the tone for Gulliver Prep in the victory.
—2023 6-foot-2 guard Jordan Bankston (13 points) flashed his smooth shooting ability and 2023 6-foot-4 guard/forward Jeremy Arnum (12 points) and flourished as an attacker and driver.
2024 6-4 G Nova Williams – North Miami
North Miami battled with Gulliver Prep all game long. 2024 6-foot-4 guard Nova Williams had some very bright moments en route to being named Player of the Game. He fought on the boards and he is a true leaper for this young Pioneers squad.
—2023 5-foot-10 guard Justin Jackson had a team-best 18 points and was very good in transition and with cleanups. 2024 6-foot-3 forward Dan Ulysse finished with 11 points and had strong finishes at the cup.
