Standouts: St. Pete High Shootout

SAINT PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – The 18th annual St. Pete High Shootout took place on Saturday night with a slate of three matchups.

Results:

  • Game 1: Lakewood 49, Lake Wales 47
  • Game 2: Oldsmar Christian 49, Gibbs 48
  • Game 3: St. Pete 66, East Lake 54

Here is an in-depth look at the top performers from the event.

2023 6-5 F Dylan Kramer – St. Pete

It was quite an outing for Dylan Kramer. The 2023 big man was active on the glass, ripping down boards with his strength and positioning while also finishing at the rim to drop 17 points. He got some really good feeds from his teammates and it worked in St. Pete’s favor in the win over a very good East Lake group.

—2023 6-foot guard Sam Ducksworth (17 points) was a bruiser at the point of attack and used his slashing ability to his advantage all night long. 2023 5-foot-10 guard Quez Curry Jr. (16 points) made flashy and shifty plays out of the backcourt while knocking down jumpers and dropping some sweet feeds to his teammates. 2023 6-foot-6 guard Tristan Gross (8 points) battled through an ankle injury and was very locked-in on defense even with it. All three are going to help college programs win games.

2023 5-11 G Justin Kruszewski – East Lake

With East Lake battling back against St. Pete, Justin Kruszewski buried some tough deep balls with 12 of his 25 points coming in the fourth quarter alone. Back 100 percent healthy, he has a quick release that hurts defenses and his ability to get to the rim is a threat. Kruszewski is overlooked but college programs will be getting a winner and a scorer if they bring him in.

—2023 6-foot guard Henry Hurst Jr. (16 points) was hitting from deep and his overall prowess as a driver to the cup was working. Reaching 1,000 points in high school career, Hurst Jr. is someone who is having a rock solid senior year averaging just under 16.0 PPG. He is raising his value for colleges.

2023 6-8 F Dominic Betancourt – Oldsmar Christian

Transferring in from King this summer, Dominic Betancourt has settled in nicely as a pure big for Oldsmar Christian. He was all over the boards, blocking shots, snagging rebounds and finishing with purpose on the way to 13 points in a 1-point win over Gibbs. Betancourt is someone college programs will love because of his effort level and tenacity for a player his size.

—2023 6-foot-2 guard Joel Harrison (8 points) had some very bright moments with his lay-in ability. He is incredibly quick downhill and makes life tough for defenses because of it.

2023 6-3 G/F Marcus Calvin – Gibbs

Committed to Kansas for football, Marcus Calvin simply gets it done on the basketball court. He has good footwork, shoots it well and likes to get his teammates going with some high IQ passes. With 15 points, Calvin kept Gibbs hanging around all game long against Oldsmar Christian in a FHSAA vs SIAA matchup.

—2025 5-foot-11 guard Jacob Daniels (12 points) continues to be a gamer for Gibbs this season. He has smooth handles, a nice working jumper and the ability to get to the rim with his quick play.

2024 5-10 G David Larkins – Lakewood

Lakewood held on late to clip Lake Wales and it was David Larkins who carried the load for his squad. With 17 points, the 2024 5-foot-10 guard holds down the offense and has a nice combination of burst and court awareness. Larkins finds good spots on the floor to hit shots and drive inside.

—2024 6-foot-5 guard/forward Shamar Rigby (9 points) brought his length and leaping ability to the table with some nice finishes. 2023 6-foot guard Montravius Lloyd (6 points), a Pittsburgh football commit had his biggest bucket of the day (see below). He’s a quick and strong athlete.

2024 5-7 G Sebastian Rosado – Lake Wales

It was quite a second half for Sebastian Rosado in the comeback bid against Lakewood. The 2024 5-foot-7 guard has a nice looking 3-ball and he can get going in a hurry going to the cup as well. He finished with 15 of his team-best 17 points over the final 16 minutes of play.

—2024 5-foot-8 guard Devin Ossinac (14 points) paced Rosado and created some big buckets of his own for Lake Wales. He is an elusive guard.
