Standouts: UA Finals (Part 1)

2024 6-6 Atlanta Xpress G Chase McCarty at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA – The UA Finals were in full force this past week. The Hoop Vibe team was in attendance on Friday and Saturday to take in the action.

Here is Part 1 of the top standouts from the event.

2024 6-6 G Chase McCarty – Atlanta Xpress

Chase McCarty (Pictured Above) is a rock solid two-way player. The 2024 6-foot-6 guard can cover all positions on the floor and he proved himself in a major way in a win over Wisconsin Playground. McCarty recorded a team-best 21 points, always looked up the court, battled inside and played above the rim. He’s a special athlete who is in line for a major senior campaign at Alabama Westminster Christian.

—2025 6-foot-8 forward Bryson Tiller is as good as he was hyped up to be. The Overtime Elite product had 17 points in the win over Wisconsin Playground. Tiller’s very physical inside and with his length and college-ready body, he’s a tough task for any team.

2024 6-5 G Brooks Bahr – Texas Impact

2024 6-5 Texas Impact G Brooks Bahr at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

Brooks Bahr is a gamer. The 2024 6-foot-5 guard made buckets when it mattered most in a close semifinal loss to Team Thrill. With 18 points, Bahr’s handle is beyond seasoned and his mid-range pull-up is a thing of beauty. He made the defense pay time and time again and certainly opened eyes with a ton of media and college coaches on hand for this Saturday tilt. Bahr should have a huge senior season at Texas Keller.

—2024 6-foot-8 forward Darkuan King is an intriguing prospect, who can knock down jumpers, drive and finish with strength and play up and down the floor. He was very sound in the loss to Team Thrill on Saturday.

2024 5-10 G Jaquan Johnson – Wisconsin Playground

2024 5-10 Wisconsin Playground G Jaquan Johnson at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

A coach’s favorite, Jaquan Johnson would make any program look very smart by bringing him. The 2024 5-foot-10 Wisconsin Playground guard netted 13 points but did just about everything in a loss to a lengthy Atlanta Xpress squad. Johnson is a savvy passer, gritty defender and vocal and strong presence. Most impressively, he was covering some of the biggest players on the opposing team and causing havoc, deflecting basketballs and coming up with steals.

—2024 6-foot-6 guard Steven Clark is a dangerous outside touch shooter for Wisconsin Playground. He doesn’t need much space to bury jumpers.

2024 6-1 G Daquan Davis – Team Thrill

2024 6-1 Team Thrill G Daquan Davis at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

In a back and forth tilt, Team Thrill needed Daquan Davis to step up and he did just that. The 2024 6-foot-1 Providence guard commit used every bit of his length and burst with 18 points in a close semifinal win over Texas Impact. He played off of top prospect Derik Queen with athletic takes and good movement as a slasher. Davis is a sneaky good scorer who can finesse his way into the paint.

2026 6-0 G Jasen Lopez – SOH Elite

2026 6-0 SOH Elite G Jasen Lopez at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

The most reliable offensive threat for SOH Elite 17U on Friday and Saturday was Jasen Lopez. The 2026 6-foot guard was not rattled whatsoever playing two age groups up. He gets up and down the floor in the blink of an eye and finishes around the rim with both hands. Lopez scored 17 points on Saturday in a loss to the Gateway Knights. He is an emerging football talent, but he’s rising up on the basketball court after earning offers from FIU and Hofstra this past weekend.

2025 6-2 G Ryan Burbach – Arizona Select

2025 6-2 Arizona Select G Ryan Burbach at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

Ryan Burbach was raining 3’s left and right all week long. On Saturday, he drilled the game-winning triple from the corner in a game and on Friday, he recorded 22 points in a narrow loss to B. Maze Elite. The 2025 6-foot-2 Arizona Select can create his own shot and get to the rim with good moves and slashing. Burbach is a quiet and determined scorer. He suits up for Arizona Brophy Prep during the high school season and should further his game.

—2025 6-foot-1 guard Treyvion Curry is another name to know from this Arizona Select 16U group. He’s very athletic and strong and did most of his damage at the point of attack.

2025 6-8 F Deondrea Lindsey – B. Maze Elite

2025 6-8 B Maze Elite F Deondrea Lindsey at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

One of the best finishing bigs I saw all week was Deondrea Lindsey. The 2025 6-foot-8 forward made his presence known from the opening tip in a win over Arizona Select. Lindsey tacked on 16 points and routinely earned trips to the free throw line. With good length, he has impressive versatility and push down low. Lindsey has transferred from Tennessee Knoxville Catholic to Oak Hill this fall and that will bode well for his development.

2025 6-0 G Jacob Wallace – We R1

2025 6-0 We R1 G Jacob Wallace at the UA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia – July 8, 2023

In a late afternoon semifinal win, Jacob Wallace came to play. The 2025 6-foot We R1 guard has such a high motor and it showed with his 25-point performance. Wallace, a dual sport athlete (playing football as well) is a lockdown defender and is constantly in attack mode with the keen ability to get to the free throw line. Keep his name on your radar as we head into the fall at Maryland Dematha Catholic.
